AREAS
and Neighborhoods to avoid! ---
What? This is one of those topics that is "taboo" for a licensed real estate agent. Agents will try to be helpful, as you can see... and may even say that different people have different ideas and thoughts as to what "neighborhoods to avoid" or bad areas, you may think one is good while we think its bad etc... Truth is, If we were to REALLY tell you what we think, especially in writing or anywhere and in any way that it can be proved, we can loose our license. Some agents in person may tell you what they really think, if they live in the general area...but they are not supposed to do that. I don't have to agree with that rule, but we must all obey it. This is called in the business "Steering"..., and there is a long list of words agents must be aware of with some listed at: http://www.realestatewords.com - as a disclosure, I do not have any connection or interest in this site and just found it on a google search. Steering: The illegal practice of channeling home seekers to particular areas, either to maintain the homogeneity of an area or to change the character of an area, which limits their home choices. Best bet is to go ahead and find a local Agent as mentioned below, ask them questions as you please since they will be more knowledgeable. Most counties have a police website that can help define areas with more crime etc. and you will find a search engine will bring you a wealth of info. Regards, -Don |
